Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are hiring a Strategic Human Resources Business Partner to support our Operations Rapid Transit and Asset Management & Maintenance divisions. The SHRBP will provide strategic HR advice, expertise, planning, and project and change management to senior leaders. Through a client-centric lens, the SHRBP will lead the implementation of corporate HR initiatives, develop customized strategies and solutions, and evaluate and recalibrate to meet unique business needs.

What will I be doing?

  1. Supporting senior divisional leadership in talent and performance management, strategic workforce planning, employee and labour relations, succession planning, employee engagement, leadership coaching, internal communications, and organizational design and transformation.
  2. Managing employee relations issues with clients (e.g., workplace disputes), including leading non-WHD investigations.
  3. Utilizing HR metrics, collecting and analyzing data to identify issues and trends, and developing data-driven HR solutions.
  4. Leading the implementation of HR initiatives such as succession management, talent management, and learning and development, tailoring strategies to each business unit’s needs.
  5. Providing ongoing strategic HR partnership to business leaders on HR programs, policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements, including interpretation of policies, risk identification, and recommending solutions; acting as a liaison with HR COEs.
  6. Supporting clients with change management and intervention strategies for major projects and transformational plans with HR implications.
  7. Participating in business planning and transformation processes to assess future workforce needs and organizational structure implications.
  8. Providing leadership, guidance, training, and coaching/mentoring to HR Generalists.
  9. Leading interdisciplinary teams to improve processes and programs for clients and within HR, with a focus on continuous improvement.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  1. University degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field; CHRP/CHRL is an asset.
  2. Progressively responsible experience in HR generalist roles, including performance management, talent management, organizational design, and related legislation.
  3. Strong expertise across all HR disciplines and practices.
  4. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  5. Ability to develop solutions-based strategies and analyze data to support business objectives.
  6. Excellent communication skills for presenting, consulting, and reporting.
  7. Leadership skills for coaching and guiding HR teams and senior leaders.
  8. Relationship-building and influencing skills.
  9. Knowledge of organizational design, change management, and project management principles for leading transformation projects.
