Job summary

National Bank of Canada is seeking a Senior Advisor in the Employee Relations team within the Human Performance Experience sector. You will act as an expert across mandates, evolving employment law practices and maintaining a harmonious climate between employees and leaders.

You will influence complex cases, draft agreements, and implement preventive strategies to reduce risk while enhancing the employee experience. Strong knowledge of federal labour laws and leadership ability are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law or Industrial Relations or related field is required.
• Master's degree in a related field with 6+ years of employment law experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of federal labour laws and best practices in federal employment law is essential.
• Fluency in French and English is required to work with colleagues outside Quebec.

Responsibilities

• Develop and advance policies and practices for National Bank in labor relations based on evolution and jurisprudence.
• Govern certain employee relations policies in line with organizational changes and jurisprudence.
• Demonstrate excellent knowledge of labor relations issues and the Bank’s strategic directions and regulatory environments.
• Analyze complex cases and propose creative, practical solutions by adapting approaches.
• Draft standard agreements and contracts with multiple parameters.
• Propose and implement preventive strategies to maintain a healthy, safe work environment and optimize employee experience.
• Diagnose problematic work climate situations and formulate innovative solutions.
• Facilitate complex conflicts between management and employees.
• Advise management on settlement strategies to manage organizational risks.
• Coaching and developing team members within the employee relations community.
