Job summary

Broadstreet Properties Ltd. is seeking a detail-focused Staff Accountant to join a collaborative mid-size team in Canada. This role offers stable employment, strong benefits, and on-the-job support while pursuing a CPA designation or continuing an established accounting career.

You will manage monthly financial reporting, GL accuracy, and bank reconciliations for property accounts, with opportunities to contribute to system implementations and ad hoc projects in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance required or equivalent experience.
  • High integrity, discretion and confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in Excel and understanding of computerized accounting systems or ERPs.
  • CPA designation pursued or recent grad is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance of fiscal records and prepare monthly financial reports, including property accounting and bank reconciliations
  • Lead the completion of complex calculations and intricate financial transactions to ensure accuracy in the general ledger
  • Ensure all business transactions, accruals, adjustments, and account reconciliations are completed in a timely, accurate manner
  • Assist in preparing monthly and year-end financial statements, including all routine working papers and cost statements
  • Review budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing actual-to-budget report variances and communicating status updates to regional teams
  • Assist in systems implementations and ad hoc projects as required
  • Maintain and update the Policies and Procedures Manual for both routine and complex accounting transactions
  • Build strong rapport with internal staff and Regional Managers to ensure all transactions accurately reflect the organization’s operations
  • Remain current with all regulations, tax laws, and industry trends to understand their impact on the organization’s financial statements

Job description

Your contributions to the team:

What you need to be successful:
  • A Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is preferred; however, an equivalent combination of education and full-cycle accounting experience will be considered
  • A high level of personal integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Strong problem-identification and resolution skills with a logical approach to analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a general understanding of computerized accounting systems or ERPs
  • An active pursuit of a CPA designation or recent grad is a strong asset

You will be eligible to receive salary range of $56,800.00 to $71,000.00 per annum, this will be determined by your skill set, education and experience.
