Job summary

The Recreation Assistant will support planning, implementation and evaluation of programs to meet residents' physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs, working with the healthcare team to promote participation and wellbeing.

Qualifications include a Recreation Aide certificate/diploma, Class 4 license or willingness to obtain, First Aid/CPR, and 1–2 years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Recreation Aide Certificate or Diploma is required.
• Valid Class 4 driver’s license or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• 1–2 years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred.
• Ability to work well with staff, clients and external agencies.

Reporting to the Recreational Therapist the Recreation Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. The Recreation Assistant works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation in programs and opportunities and support recreation & leisure programming for the residents.

This position will:

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license is required or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire

• Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintain a positive outlook


• Valid/current First Aid and CPR


• One (1) to two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred
