Job summary

School District No 45 (West Vancouver) is seeking a Head Custodian for a temporary assignment at West Vancouver Secondary. The role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM, with duties including site security, supervising custodial staff, and performing cleaning and light maintenance.

Salary starts at $28.41 at Step 1 and goes to $31.55 at Step 2, with the position effective immediately until the return of the incumbent.

Qualifications

• Must have Grade 12 Graduation and Building Service Worker Certificate
• Boiler Service Awareness Certificate required
• Building Service Management Course desired
• Fire Safety Course required
• Valid BC Driver's License
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Oversee site security and overall custodial operations at assigned location
• Supervise custodial staff and coordinate cleaning and minor maintenance tasks
• Ensure compliance with established procedures and safety guidelines
• Report issues to the Supervisor-Custodial Services and support site administration

Summary Of Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor-Custodial Services, the Head Custodian has overall responsibility for site/security; supervision of custodian at their assigned location(s) as well as the performance of a variety of cleaning and minor maintenance tasks in accordance with established procedures.

Required Qualifications And Experience

• Grade 12 Graduation
• Building Service Worker Certificate
• Boiler Service Awareness Certificate
• Building Service Management Course
• Valid BC Driver's License
• Fire Safety Course
• Basic Computer Skills (e-mail)
• Self-starter with ability to organize daily tasks and work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
• Good interpersonal and communication (oral) skills
• Physical ability to perform the assigned duties (including climbing ladders and scaffolds)

OR an equivalent combination of training and experience

Desirable Qualifications And Experience

• Training in building trades
• Previous experience in the maintenance of commercial or school buildings
• Demonstrated supervisory ability.
