Starting wage is $24.97 per hour. Candidates should have Grade 10 or equivalent, cleaning experience, and be able to operate an auto scrubber and window cleaning equipment.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent.
• 1 year of commercial/school cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to operate large auto scrubber and window cleaning equipment.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• WHMIS certificate and safety training to be completed within probation.
• Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and disinfects building interior, fixtures and windows; handles garbage and cleaning tasks.
• Responsible for building security.
• Performs minor maintenance on doors, windows, lamps, furniture and fixtures.
• Organizes daily and seasonal cleaning tasks under supervision.
• Monitors and orders custodial and maintenance supplies.
• Ensures tools and equipment are in good working order.
• Follows safety rules and ensures a safe worksite and proper handling of hazardous materials.

DESIGNATED CUSTODIAN - CASUAL

Position Description

There are positions available for Casual Designated Custodians atWonowon School. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the positions are filled. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor in cooperation with the siteAdministrative Officer(s) and the Custodial Working Lead, thisposition isresponsible for the custodial and minor building maintenance work in the cleaning of School District facilities. The Designated Custodian is normally the sole person assigned to clean a facility.

Duties

1. Cleans and disinfectsbuilding interior, fixtures and windows. This includes garbage removal, sweeping, vacuuming and wetmopping floors. Also performs some related cleaning duties to the exterior of the buildings and landings.
2. Responsible for building security.
3. Performs minor maintenance on doors, windows, lamps, schoolfurniture and other fixtures.
4. Under the general direction of the siteAdministrative Officer(s), Manager of Custodial Services, and Custodial Working Foreman, organizes regular work day and seasonal clean ups. Seasonal clean ups include stripping, scrubbing and waxing floors, washing walls, desks and furniture.
5. Monitors and orders custodial and maintenance supplies as needed.
6. Ensures tools and equipment are in good working order.
7. Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the worksite is safe and secure, that equipment and vehicles are operated according to set standards.
8. Ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials (WHMIS) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.
9. Informs the Manager of Custodial Services, Custodial Working Foreman and/or site Administrative Officer(s) of vandalized equipment or property.
10. Performs other job related duties as directedby the siteAdministrative Officer(s), Manager of Custodial Services, and Custodial Working Foreman.

Qualifications and Attributes

• Grade 10 or equivalency
• 1 year of commercial cleaning or school cleaning experience preferred
• Ability to operate large, self-propelled auto scrubber and window cleaning equipment
• Valid Class 5 driver's licenseand accessto areliable vehicle may be required
• Reading comprehension of written instructions andsafety bulletins
• Ability to workwith the public
• Must be well organized
• Ability to workindependently and set priorities
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
• WHMIS Certificate and other onlinesafety training providedby theDistrict to be completed within the probationary period
• Otherapplicable safety training and/or certification as providedby the Districtto be completed asneeded
• Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to staring employment
