Job summary

Suncor Energy in Calgary invites a Sr Reservoir Engineer to lead reservoir engineering support for our SAGD asset, focused on maximizing bitumen recovery, sustaining production, and safe reservoir management. You will develop, maintain and apply reservoir models to support operations and development planning, including history matching and forecasting.

Minimum 10+ years in reservoir engineering with direct SAGD experience, P.Eng. eligibility in Alberta, and strong simulation skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field, P.Eng. eligibility in Alberta.
  • 10+ years of reservoir engineering experience, with direct SAGD experience.
  • Hands-on reservoir simulation experience: model development, history matching, forecasting.
  • Strong knowledge of advanced reservoir engineering principles and production forecasting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operating environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide stewardship of subsurface process safety and reservoir management practices.
  • Develop and maintain reservoir simulation models to support decision‑making and development planning.
  • Prepare production forecasts to support business planning and asset management.
  • Monitor reservoir, wells, and field performance KPIs to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Collaborate with geology, operations, production engineering, drilling, completions, and facilities teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as required.
