Job description

Our client, located in Delta, BC, is seeking a Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance. This role has overall material management responsibility for maintenance operations and involves coordinating and overseeing the Logistics Department to ensure optimal interface between logistical functions and other departments. Key duties include monitoring the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of goods movement and storage. The Senior Manager also manages employees within the Logistics & Stores department, providing expertise to support departmental and company goals, and recommending process improvements.

The role entails responsibility for export regulations and compliance concerning military contracts, including controlled goods, export licenses, and adherence to Canadian, U.S., and EU export laws and regulations such as sanctions, tariff classifications, customs, ITAR, CCL, and EAR controlled goods.

Your Tasks:

General duties:
  • Manage and coordinate Logistics Centre activities to meet departmental goals.
  • Align logistics activities with business strategies to enhance overall achievement.
  • Maintain departmental budgets.
  • Set, monitor, and report KPIs to the CEO, ensuring alignment with corporate and division objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with audit standards and aviation regulations.
  • Collaborate with other managers to streamline logistics efforts internally and externally.
  • Coordinate employee training to ensure proficiency and adherence to standards.
Operational duties:
  • Supervise and direct employees to meet internal and external customer expectations.
  • Ensure resources are available for delegated tasks.
  • Support the Materials Procurement Cycle to meet production schedules.
  • Oversee Receiving, Shipping, and Marshalling activities to support production and customer needs.
  • Utilize resources effectively to support process teams.
  • Manage risks related to turn times by maintaining transparency of all engine components throughout the shop visit.
Strategic duties:
  • Lead process improvement initiatives continuously.
  • Promote team building and clarify roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage work stoppages promptly to minimize production impact.

Our Requirements:

  • University degree in Logistics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in Logistics Management, preferably in an operational environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented with strategic thinking and adaptability to change.
  • Experience in aviation and managing unionized employees is highly preferred.
