Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform and review data analyses for complex, multi-discipline mining projects, including water management and treatment, geochemical characterization and modelling, and water quality assessments across all stages of mine development and operations.
  • Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, work plans, and conduct complex data analysis.
  • Review and manage written document production.
  • Participate in meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct fieldwork, including travel to project sites, as needed.
  • Depending on experience, manage tasks such as project planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, and client communication.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in geology, geoscience, geoenvironmental engineering, or a related field (required).
  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in relevant geoscience or engineering discipline (preferred).
  • Professional registration (e.g., P.Geo., P.Eng) or eligibility for registration (preferred).
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years (5+ desirable) of experience in environmental consulting or equivalent education and experience (required).
  • Understanding of mining operations, mine waste management, geoscience, biogeochemistry, water quality assessments, and geochemical modelling (required).
  • Strong technical background in engineering and environmental practices for mining facilities (preferred).
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary aspects of mining, including geology, hydrogeology, environmental permitting, rock mechanics, water management, process design, and tailings management (required).
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary project teams (required).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel as needed (required).
  • Current MSHA New Miner or Annual Refresher Training (preferred).
  • Excellent safety record and safety leadership skills (required).
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and a good driving record for business travel (required).

The salary range for this role within British Columbia is estimated at $63,565 to $101,330, based on education, experience, and location. This is one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package, which includes benefits such as paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
