Fortinet is recruiting a Senior Linux System Administrator to join our FortiStack team based out of Burnaby, BC. This team is responsible for the management, operation, and continued development of our Openstack-based private cloud platform. This position is ideal for IT professionals with extensive experience in Linux Administration, Datacenter Virtualization, and supporting large-scale Production environments.

Responsibilities

1. Deployment and operation of an OpenStack-based private cloud, including data security measures
2. Linux Server Administration (Ubuntu/Red Hat/CentOS)
3. Monitoring server, VM, application, and network performance metrics
4. Identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects
5. Developing, maintaining, and executing automation tools and scripts
6. Continuous improvement through automation and optimization
7. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
8. Providing technical leadership and knowledge sharing
9. Providing on-call support as needed

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in production platform operation
• Senior experience in Linux server administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Knowledge of server virtualization (KVM, VMware, etc.)
• Understanding of network administration and protocols
• Experience with system monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, etc.)
• Familiarity with deployment automation
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, etc.)
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills

Educational Requirements

• A degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related field

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Openstack administration knowledge
• Certifications such as RHCE, CCIE, Openstack, VMware VCP
• Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Ansible, etc.)
• Experience with container management (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Knowledge of software-defined storage and networking (Ceph, OVN, NSX-T, etc.)
• ISO27001 experience

Additional Information

The salary range for this full-time position in Canada is expected to be between $81,000 and $110,000 annually, based on various factors including experience and qualifications.
