Job summary

Suncor Energy in Calgary is seeking a Senior Health Programs Advisor to oversee alcohol and drug testing and other workforce health initiatives. You will coordinate testing logistics, analyze program data, and drive improvements to support safe, reliable operations.

The role requires strong knowledge of workplace testing practices, experience in occupational health programs, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external providers.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience supporting alcohol and drug programs and related fitness-for-duty activities.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace alcohol and drug testing practices and safety-sensitive environments.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in occupational health, health sciences, nursing, public health, or related field; or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience in occupational health, health surveillance, or health assessment programs.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, testing logistics, records management, and internal reporting.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate alcohol and drug testing activities: scheduling, tracking, notifications, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Support testing program oversight by managing records, reviewing results, escalations, and safety-sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external providers to ensure program delivery and quality assurance.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, KPIs, and trend analyses to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement of health programs such as fitness-for-duty and workplace health surveillance.

We're seeking a Senior Health Programs Advisor in Calgary to primarily support alcohol and drug testing along with other workforce health programs. In this role, you'll coordinate testing activities, analyze program data, and help improve processes that support safe, reliable operations.

Minimum Requirements
  • Significant experience supporting alcohol and drug programs and associated fitness-for-duty activities
  • Strong knowledge of workplace alcohol and drug testing practices, testing protocols, and safety-sensitive work environments
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in occupational health, health sciences, nursing, public health, or a related field or equivalent combinations of education and experience
  • Experience supporting occupational health, health surveillance, or health assessment programs
  • Experience coordinating vendors, alcohol and drug testing logistics, records management, internal reporting, and quality assurance activities
  • Strong analytical, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Location and other Key Details

This is an office-based role

You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W.

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

Our professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
