Job summary

Suncor Energy Inc. in Calgary is seeking a Finance & Planning Advisor to deliver financial insights and support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end stewardship.

You will work with stakeholders across Finance Technology & Risk to enable data-driven decisions and stronger financial control. Key responsibilities include building dashboards, performing scenario analyses, and driving continuous improvement in reporting and planning processes.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in finance, planning, accounting, or analytics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; familiarity with BI tools is an asset.
• CPA designation (or progress toward) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and month-end stewardship.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Analyze financial performance and provide insights for decisions.
• Prepare reporting and commentary to support planning activities.
• Develop dashboards and tools to improve financial transparency.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting.

Suncor's BP&A team is seeking a Finance & Planning Advisor to support our Finance, Technology & Risk Function. In this role, you will provide valuable financial insights that support key business decisions across Finance Technology & Risk and other functional areas. You will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, month-end stewardship, business planning, and financial analysis activities while working closely with stakeholders across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, solving complex business problems, and turning analysis into meaningful insights. The successful candidate will be expected to build strong partnerships with both Finance and D&IT stakeholders across the organization.

Minimum Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in finance, planning, accounting, business analytics, or a related field
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
• Experience with SAP, Power BI, SAC-P, or similar systems is considered an asset
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• CPA designation (or progress toward designation) is considered an asset

Location and other Key Details

This is an office-based role located in our Calgary office, Suncor Energy Centre, 150 - 6th Avenue S.W. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday Our professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work.
