Job summary

Suncor Energy in Calgary is seeking a Finance & Planning Advisor to support our Finance Technology & Risk function. You will provide financial insights to inform budgeting, forecasting and month-end stewardship while partnering with stakeholders across the organization.

The role emphasizes data analysis, developing reporting tools and dashboards, and driving continuous improvement. A 3-5 year background in finance and a strong Excel/SAP/Power BI skill set are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in finance, planning, accounting, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Experience with SAP, Power BI, SAC-P or similar systems is an asset.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • CPA designation (or progress toward designation) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, business planning, and month-end stewardship activities.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand key business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support business decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reporting, analysis, and commentary to support performance reviews, forecasting, and planning activities.
  • Develop and enhance reporting, dashboards, and analytical tools to improve financial transparency and business insights.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and support for strategic initiatives and stakeholder requests.

Suncor's BP&A team is seeking a Finance & Planning Advisor to support our Finance, Technology & Risk Function. In this role, you will provide valuable financial insights that support key business decisions across Finance Technology & Risk and other functional areas. You will contribute to budgeting, forecasting, month-end stewardship, business planning, and financial analysis activities while working closely with stakeholders across the organization. The successful candidate will be expected to build strong partnerships with both Finance and D&IT stakeholders across the organization.

Minimum Requirements:

Location and other Key Details:

This is an office-based role located in our Calgary office, Suncor Energy Centre, 150 - 6th Avenue S.W.

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.

Our professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work.
