Position Overview

The Eastern Canada District's projects include highways, bridges, mass transit, mine site development & open pit operations, hydroelectric powerhouses, wind-power plants, dams & industrial. We serve the construction and mining industries and operate in Eastern Canada.

This position will be based out of our Oakville office. The successful candidate will be able to work in-office full-time.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and effectively communicates financial results of the project to upper level management
  • Earns trust, credibility, and buy-in of processes from Operations team to create better cohesion and clear communication within the organization
  • Understands financial reporting - including the upstream effects of reporting to other areas of the organization
  • Manages the division of responsibilities and communication between various project & home office departments
  • Drives continuous improvement throughout the organization and is a proponent for positive change
  • Effectively utilizes the right data, reports, and tools for risk analysis and benchmarking
  • Reviews all project and estimate cash flows, contract terms, and change orders in detail for financial risks and opportunities
  • Recognizes when and who to escalate specific conversations/issues
  • Understands, substantiates, and reconciles all financial reports monthly and annually
  • Creates an inviting workplace that motivates and challenges each team member to achieve career goals and strive for opportunities
  • Understands the needs of the organization, aims to bring in high quality talent, and continually develops team members through critical conversations and performance reviews
  • Monitors results of new processes, troubleshoots failures and issues, and presents solutions to unsolicited problems
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of financial/data analysis experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or an equivalent degree is required
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting including: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Effective communication (both oral and written), organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • High level of professionalism and standards
  • Managerial experience
  • Must be able to freely access all parts of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments
  • CPA, MBA, or public accounting experience preferred
  • Financial or accounting experience in construction or engineering industry preferred
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with principal field business management systems: SAP, CMIS, PMIS and Prolog (P.O. and A/P) preferred
  • Proven track record of successfully developing or managing a team preferred

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
