Sr Design Engineer

Purpose of Role: The Sr Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design of engineering projects, acting as technical lead on the project and reviewing/stamping drawings and designs as needed, and managing the technical engineering deliverables. They will be assigning design engineers to project tasks and help with designing, developing, and supervising installation as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review Drawings and Designs: Review, approve, guide and create mechanical engineering drawings/specifications and stamping as needed.

• Project Engineering: Lead project technical engineering deliverables on Weir pump houses, barges, comminution, custom EngineeredTo Order (ETO) equipment, and occasionally cyclone clusters, pump replacements, and new install product offering.

• Project Support: Provide supervision throughout the project, including design, specification, development, installation, and commissioning as needed to meet project deliverables.

• Team Collaboration: Works collaboratively with other WMC Engineers, Technologists, Designers and other personnel in executing EngineeredTo Order projects and integrated solutions in compliance to customer SOR’s, specifications, provincial and national regulations and contractual obligations as defined in the PO.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical or Structural Engineering)

• P.Eng. in Ontario

• 10+ years of engineering, technical, and design experience in an industrial industry

• Demonstrated technical proficiency in undertaking all technical requirements for the design, development and validation of large custom engineered projects

• Thorough knowledge of industrial slurry pumps and packages, rotating equipment, cyclone clusters, barges, pump houses, electric motors, gear boxes, and comminution equipment is preferred
