Senior Claims Consultant

Are you passionate about managing corporate clients’ claims from start to finish, advocating for their interests, and interpreting insurance policies with precision? Do you excel at negotiating successful claim resolutions, building industry relationships, and playing a pivotal role in client satisfaction? If so, continue reading!

This is a hybrid role offering flexibility to work both virtually and from our Calgary office.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas or work permits.

What the day will look like
  1. Consulting with clients on complex losses, guiding claims preparation, submission, and resolution;
  2. Analyzing claims and coverage issues, guiding the claims process;
  3. Researching legal decisions and judgments on insurance contracts and claims as needed;
  4. Preparing reports on claims disputes for management review;
  5. Recommending alternative dispute resolution options to clients;
  6. Leading efforts with Account Managers and Brokers to resolve coverage disputes with insurers;
  7. Coordinating and attending claims settlement meetings with clients and insurers;
  8. Developing and managing a claims resolution team, working with legal counsel or others;
  9. Assisting in developing and maintaining quality control standards;
  10. Providing guidance and support to the Claims Management Team as directed by the Regional Claims Manager/Leader;
  11. Building and maintaining relationships with claims professionals;
  12. Maintaining accurate time records for billing;
  13. Leading by example, emphasizing best practices across all business lines;
  14. Performing other duties as assigned.

As a Senior Claims Consultant in Calgary, you will be responsible for reporting, documenting, and settling claims for major clients, supporting responsive and efficient service delivery.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  1. 7-10 years in a commercial claims environment;
  2. Experience with insurers or brokers;
  3. Working towards CIP/FCIP designation;
  4. AB General license (must obtain within 6 months);
  5. Strong claims knowledge in professional lines, casualty, or property claims;
  6. Conflict resolution skills;
  7. Strong analytical skills;
  8. Leadership abilities (asset);
  9. Negotiation and relationship management skills;
  10. Diplomatic influence;
  11. Effective presentation skills, highly organized, capable of managing demands.
