Speech-Language Pathologist, Augmentative Communication Services
Join us as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Augmentative Communication Services at TVCC.
We are currently recruiting for a temporary, part-time (22.5 hours per week) Speech-Language Pathologist to fill an upcoming vacancy in the Augmentative Communication Service (ACS). The position is expected to start in June 2025 and end in July 2026. The office location is flexible, depending on the successful candidate, with possible sites in London, Owen Sound, or Stratford. Travel within Elgin, Middlesex, Oxford, Chatham-Kent, Huron, Perth, Grey, and Bruce counties to provide services may be required.
Responsibilities
- Assess clients' communication needs to make recommendations and prescribe equipment that align with client and family preferences and needs.
- Assist in determining eligibility for Assistive Devices Program (ADP) funding for communication equipment and authorize eligible equipment following ADP guidelines.
- Assess specialized access and equipment mounting needs of clients, often in collaboration with an ACS Occupational Therapist.
- Develop care plans with objectives and strategies in collaboration with clients, families, educators, therapists, and other stakeholders.
- Provide consultation-based intervention to community therapists, educators, and caregivers involved with clients requiring augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
- Advocate for and build community capacity to support communication for AAC users.
- Identify training needs and participate in developing and delivering tiered interventions.
- Supervise support personnel, students, and initial practice registrants within CASLPO guidelines.
Qualifications
- Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario.
- Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
- Experience supporting augmentative communication.
- Completion of the CEP Foundations in AAC course is preferred.
- ADP individual authorizer status is required prior to or upon starting the position.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 and videoconferencing software (e.g., Teams).
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
- French language proficiency is an asset.
Salary Range: $39.81 - $49.76/hour
