Job summary

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is seeking a Specialist, Credit Analysis to join the Multi Unit Borrower Financial Analysis team. You will prepare credit risk assessments for applicants in Multi-Unit programs and present findings to management.

This role requires an undergraduate degree, at least five years in credit/financial analysis, and strong Excel skills with market data tools; professional designation is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in business, accounting, finance, commerce or economics.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in credit/financial analysis and risk management.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and market data systems (Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P CapitalIQ).
  • Good knowledge of multi-unit underwriting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare credit risk assessments of applicants supporting the Multi-Unit programs.
  • Review financial statements and organizational structure, calculate ratios, and present reports to management.
  • Provide advice to staff on applicants' creditworthiness.
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders to understand the operating environment and inform decisions.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analyses and support internal stakeholders.

About the role

Join the Multi Unit Borrower Financial Analysis team , in the Specialist, Credit Analysis position.

What you'll do:
  • Prepare credit risk assessments of applicants supporting the Multi-Unit programs.
  • Review financial statements and organizational structure, calculate financial ratios, and prepare/present a credit risk report to management.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to appropriate staff and management on applicants' creditworthiness.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with key stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of the operational environment in order to influence complex business decisions.
  • Perform, document, and guide ad hoc financial analysis and provide analytical assistance to various internal stakeholders.
What you should have:
  • An Undergraduate degree in a related field such as business, accounting, finance, commerce or economics.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in credit/financial analysis and risk management practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and work in a multi-demand environment.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills, knowledge of market information and analysis systems (Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P Capital IQ).
  • A good knowledge of multi-unit underwriting operations.
It would be great if you also had:
  • A professional designation (Chartered Financial Analyst, Financial Risk Manager or Chartered Professional Accountant designation).
