Job summary

The Upper Canada District School Board in Ontario is accepting applications for an Educational Assistant. Under the supervision of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher (LRT) and classroom teacher, the EA supports students with exceptional needs within the school.

Responsibilities include assisting instruction, overseeing students with disabilities, and implementing individualized education programs.

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma is required.
• Two- or three-year college diploma in listed fields is required.
• Behaviour management systems training is a plus.
• Related work experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the classroom teacher and LRT, support academic goals outlined in the IEP.
• Assist in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of therapeutic programs.
• Administer medications as permitted by policy and supervision.
• Maintain student safety, confidentiality and proper documentation.
• Support adaptive technology and communication needs (sign language, etc.).
• Communicate with students, parents/guardians, and staff regarding progress.
