Job summary

Upper Canada District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs under the supervision of school leadership and classroom staff. Qualifications

• Possesses knowledge to support student behaviour, communication, and physical needs.
• Demonstrates understanding of social/emotional and physical needs of students with disabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution abilities.
• Proficient with basic educational software and online tools.
• Able to interact professionally with students, parents, staff and community agencies.
• Maintains confidentiality and discretion in all duties.
• Acts as a team player and works independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of academic goals based on IEPs.
• Assist in therapeutic programs and monitor progress with school/externals.
• Assist with medication administration and records per policy.
• Follow student safety and care plans including personal care tasks as required.
• Support adaptive technology and communication methods for diverse needs.
• Assist in maintaining student records and progress notes.
• Support behavior management programs and collaboration with staff.
• Communicate with families and school teams as directed.
