Job summary

Upper Canada District School Board is hiring an Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs under the supervision of school leadership and classroom staff. Responsibilities include assisting instruction, supporting behaviour, communication, and physical needs, and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).

The role emphasizes confidentiality, teamwork and flexibility within a CUPE-covered workplace, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration

Qualifications

• Must have a secondary school diploma and a two- or three-year college diploma in a related field.
• Bachelor degrees in Child Studies, Sociology or Psychology will be recognized.
• BMS training/certification is an asset.
• Related work experience would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support development and implementation of goals based on academic needs and IEPs.
• Assist in development, review, and monitoring of therapeutic programs.
• Administer medication and maintain records as authorized.
• Follow student safety plans and care routines.
• Support adaptive/assistive technology and communication needs.
• Communicate with students, parents, staff and agencies as directed by leadership.
• Attend meetings and participate in student success activities.
