JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an Intermediate Solution Design professional to join our global investment management firm, headquartered in Canada. You will support the Guardian Capital in modernizing our technology foundation and driving strategic business technology projects. As a member of the Information Technology department, you will design and deliver scalable, resilient architecture solutions that address both infrastructure needs and the firm’s business technology goals. You will collaborate with the Information Technology and Project Management Office teams to ensure that technological solutions are aligned with business strategies and scalable for future growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Collaborate with global infrastructure and business technology teams to design and implement modern, scalable, and resilient technology architecture.
• Assist in the design of cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-premises infrastructure solutions, ensuring alignment with security, compliance, and performance standards.
• Ensure solutions are scalable, support high availability, and meet disaster recovery requirements to address both current and future business needs.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and vendors for projects from both regional and global perspectives.

Strategic Business Technology Initiatives

• Partner with business leaders, technology teams, and the Project Management Office to understand strategic goals and translate them into technical solutions that support business growth.
• Assist in designing solutions that integrate critical business platforms, including trading systems, portfolio management tools, and analytics platforms, with the global technology infrastructure.
• Ensure strategic business technology projects align with the firm’s overall technology vision, enhancing innovation and operational efficiency.
• Contribute to the design of secure, high-performing, and scalable solutions for business technology initiatives.
• Act as a technical advisor and advocate for best practices in solution design for business leaders and technology stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with Information Technology and Project Management Office teams to ensure smooth delivery of solutions.
• Participate in review sessions and engage in governance processes, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices across the organization.
• Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making with cross-functional teams.
• Build strong relationships with business and IT stakeholders to ensure solutions meet both technical and business requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in solution design, with a focus on infrastructure and business systems integration.
• Experience modernizing architecture in a financial services environment, ideally within investment management.
• Experience with cloud architecture and hybrid cloud environments, with an understanding of global deployments.
• Knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as networks, storage, servers, virtualization, and data centres.
• Familiarity with financial platforms (e.g., trading systems, portfolio management, analytics) is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of infrastructure architecture, cloud services, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in designing high-performance, low-latency, and scalable systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to technology in financial services.
• Adept in capturing and in creating technical documentation and architectural diagrams.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset and the ability to manage both technical and business priorities.
