Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test to join our Waterloo-based team, onsite full time. You will develop automated Python tests and tooling to validate new features and support existing solutions across automotive infotainment tech.

You’ll work with Java/Groovy, PyTest, and automation frameworks, participate in code reviews, and help enable hundreds of developers with a robust automated pipeline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years experience with object-oriented analysis and design, multi-threading, algorithms, and data structures.
• 3+ years experience in Python development (coursework and/or research valid).
• Experience with Java/Groovy
• Experience with automated testing environments and frameworks (i.e. PyTest, unit testing, Slash).

Responsibilities

• Develop automated test scripts and tools in Python to verify new feature functionality.
• Support existing solutions with bug fixes and updates as needed.
• Perform automated test execution and results analysis, root cause issues and validate fixes.
• Contribute to code quality by participating in code reviews.
• Interface with development and test teams to understand testing requirements.
• Monitor messaging platforms and provide timely support for development and other test teams.
• Develop hardware solutions to automate workflow (Arduino/microcontrollers).

The successful candidate will be part of the Test Automation & Tools Development team involved in the delivery of the latest automotive infotainment and connectivity technologies, initially supporting one of our largest customers in this industry. You will support the development and maintenance of a fully automated pipeline that empowers hundreds of developers every day.

Your contribution will enable a large fleet of automation nodes to serve cross-functional development teams around the clock.

Location: Waterloo (Onsite full time)

RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD (continuous integration/continuous deployment) systems (i.e. Jenkins).
• Experience with batch and shell scripting (Windows and Linux command line scripting).
• Experience with embedded OS (QNX, Linux).
• Experience with microcontrollers.
• Experience with automated testing environments and frameworks (i.e. PyTest, unit testing, Slash).
• Experience with automated GUI testing solutions (i.e. Squish, Selenium).
• Experience with agile methodologies.
