Job summary

Kongsberg Discovery Canada Ltd. is seeking a Software Developer to join our engineering team in Canada.

You will design, implement, and maintain C/C++ software powering our sonar systems across Windows and Linux environments, collaborating with software, hardware, and systems teams to deliver high-performance applications. You will contribute to testing, documentation, and system verification while staying aligned with modern engineering practices and ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong C/C++ development experience on Windows and Linux.
• Solid understanding of software architecture and object-oriented design.
• Experience with multithreaded programming and concurrent systems.
• Experience with TCP/IP networking and system-level programming.
• Familiarity with Windows APIs, MFC, and embedded Linux tooling e.g. Yocto.
• Experience using Git, Azure DevOps, or similar source control and CI/CD platforms.
• Experience working within Agile development teams.
• MATLAB experience is a strong asset.

We have an exciting opportunity within our engineering team to help build the software that powers advanced sonar technology used in demanding real-world environments. We're looking for a Software Developer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, writing high-quality code, and working across software and hardware to deliver reliable, high-performance applications.

You’ll play a key role throughout the software development lifecycle—from architecture and implementation to testing, deployment, and long‑term product support—helping create software that controls, monitors, and visualizes data from our portfolio of sonar systems.
