Job summary

enCompass Community Safety Agency in Edmonton is seeking a Social Navigator to assist offenders with desistance, developing case management plans in collaboration with Edmonton Police Service Detectives. The role involves direct client work, collaboration with social workers and sworn members, and coordinating resources for high‑risk clients.

You will document progress, report to supervisors, and support reintegration efforts while maintaining flexibility for off-site duties and emergencies

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in social or human services, or 3 years relevant experience.
• Experience with high-risk populations, trauma, homelessness, mental health, and substance use.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Experience with professional documentation.
• Knowledge of Indigenous and multicultural communities.
• Ability to perform risk assessment and advocate in systems.
• Criminal Record Check and security clearances.
• First Aid/CPR and crisis de-escalation training.
• Valid Alberta driver's license with vehicle and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Develop client-centered case management plans integrating Diversion & Desistance mission.
• Collaborate with EPS officers to support high-risk clients.
• Provide ongoing case management and timely services.
• Coordinate with community agencies to ensure safety and support.
• Assist incarcerated clients with reintegration plans.
• Engage with clients in person or by phone, on/off-site.
• Attend daily meetings and report progress to Detectives.
• Prepare regular reports and track client outcomes.
• Follow up with agencies to complete tasks.
• Refer clients to detox, treatment, employment, or education programs.
