Job summary

WinSport is seeking a Snowmaking Plant Operator & Trail Crew Team Member to join our outdoor winter operations at Canada Olympic Park. You will support snowmaking and maintain snow venues while aligning with our core values: Safety, Integrity, Belonging, Inspiration, Sustainability.

You will handle equipment setup, operation, and daily logs, with evening and overnight shifts on a rotating schedule. A flexible, team-oriented mindset is essential in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Intermediate to advanced level skier or snowboarder with own equipment.
  • 1–2 years' experience in a manual labour role is an asset.
  • Flexible schedule to meet snow venues’ demands.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team in outdoor winter conditions.
  • Class 5 driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Fall snowmaking setup and equipment transfer.
  • Set up and take down snowmaking gear during the season.
  • Operate snowmobiles safely on the hill.
  • Maintain snow venues for daily operations.
  • Rake, dye takeoffs, and maintain terrain park features.
  • Assist with terrain park modifications for public use and competition.

Description
What the role is about:

You have a constant desire to learn and improve your skills while building and maintaining the snow venues at WinSport. You will be a member of the team responsible for the snowmaking and the safe building and maintenance of our world-class snow venues at Canada Olympic Park.

As a Snowmaking Plant Operator & Trail Crew Team Member, you strive to approach your work to align with our 6 values which are at the core ofwho we are and what we do at WinSport.

What you will be doing:
  • Fall snowmaking setup including transferring guns and hose onto the different snow venues
  • Set up and take down of all snowmaking equipment during the snowmaking portion of the season
  • Safe operation of snowmobiles on the ski hill
  • Maintain snow venues for day to day operations.
  • Rake and dye takeoffs and landings in the terrain park
  • Dye Halfpipe
  • Setup fence, ribbon line and B net
  • Work with the snowcat drivers to install, rebuild or modify terrain park features for public use and competition ski hill specification
  • Setup and repair safety equipment on the winter snow venues and terrain park features
  • Competition/Event setup and takedown on all snow venues
  • Operate and monitor snowmaking pumps in plant to ensure proper snowmaking pressures.
  • Ensure proper levels and injection rates of Snomax product to achieve optimal snow quality and minimize waste. Must be able to wear a N95 respirator when handling Snomax and perform a fit-test.
  • Maintain communication with snowmakers to adjust for changing weather conditions.
  • Maintain accurate logs of weather and snowmaking equipment pressures, temperatures, etc.
  • Follow operational and safety procedures while working in plant alone.
  • Perform various duties around plant including cleaning, painting, organizing, and snow-clearing.
  • Safety-toed shoes (not provided) must be worn on shift.
  • Must be able to work evening and overnight shifts on a rotating schedule.
What you bring:
  • Intermediate to advanced level skier or snowboarder with own equipment
  • 1 – 2 years' experience in a manual labour role considered an asset
  • Flexible schedule to meet the demands of the snow venues
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment in outdoor winter weather conditions
  • Class 5 drivers license and a clean drivers abstract
  • A love for the great outdoors
  • 18+ years old
  • No vacation plans December 20th-January 3rd, and all of February.
You will be:
  • Consistently and continuously crouching and bending
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects between 25lbs to 50lbs
  • Working in extreme weather conditions-cold, windy, snow environments
  • Have the ability to maintain stamina for extended periods
  • Manipulating and gripping power tools
  • Be outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Working 8 hour shifts that will start at 7am, 3pm or 11pm
  • Working 32-40 hours per week
  • Having a fabulous time with a super fantastic team
