Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking a mechanically skilled technician to service a variety of small construction equipment. Responsibilities include maintenance, engine testing, part replacement, and accurate documentation.

Candidates should have at least one year of related experience and own tools; a Small Engine or Motorcycle Technician trade certificate is an asset. You will work in a fast-paced shop and must lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of related mechanical experience.
• Small Engine Technician, Motorcycle Technician or similar trade certificate (or equivalent work experience) is an asset.
• Experience working on 2- and/or 4-stroke engines.
• Experience with brands like Stihl, Wacker, Milwaukee and Husqvarna is an asset.
• Must have own tools or be building a complete toolset.
• Valid class G/5 driver's license with clean abstract (asset).
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Comfortable working independently and in a team.
• Highly adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable with computers/technology for inspections and inventory management.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift ~50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Clean, lubricate and maintain various small construction equipment and tools.
• Test and inspect engines for malfunctioning parts.
• Repair or replace worn, defective, or broken parts.
• Assemble and reinstall components and engines after repairs.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Document all service and repair information accurately.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean, lubricate and maintain a variety of small construction equipment and tools including diesel, gas, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Test and inspect engines for malfunctioning parts.
• Repair or replace worn, defective or broken parts.
• Assemble and reinstall components and engines following repairs.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Accurately document all service and repair information.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Comfortable with computers/technology (for filling out inspections, inventory management, etc.)
• Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technology
• Available and willing to work overtime as needed
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
