Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking a motivated Maintenance Technician to perform cleaning, maintenance, and repair on small construction equipment and tools. You will load/unload equipment, inspect for damage, document service actions, and help keep the yard and wash bay organized.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of mechanical experience, own tools, and a valid G license. The role offers overtime, training, and a supportive team in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of related mechanical experience.
  • Small Engine Technician, Motorcycle Technician or similar trade certificate (or equivalent work experience) is an asset.
  • Experience working on 2 and/or 4-stroke engines.
  • Experience with brands Stihl, Wacker, Milwaukee and Husqvarna would be an asset.
  • Must have your own tools (or working towards building a complete toolset).
  • Valid Class G driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than three demerit points) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning, lubricating, and other maintenance work on a variety of small construction equipment and tools.
  • Wash, dry, and detail equipment using pressure washers, vacuums, and cleaning agents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized equipment yard and wash bay area.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment.
  • Check equipment for damage when returned to the yard, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.
  • Repair or replace worn, defective or broken parts.
  • Assemble and reinstall components and engines following repairs.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
  • Accurately document all service and repair information.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
