Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a skilled diesel and heavy equipment technician to join our in-shop team in Brampton. You will inspect, service, and repair diesel generators and pumps, with occasional field support for customer sites.

The role requires mechanical experience, a relevant trade license, and strong electrical knowledge. You will work overtime as needed and contribute to a safe, efficient workplace while maintaining thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of related mechanical experience.
• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T) or equivalent.
• Valid Class G/5 driver's license with a clean abstract.
• Strong electrical knowledge of 12V DC/AC power systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Willing to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain and repair diesel generators and diesel pumps.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Support field service on customer jobsites as needed (phone support and on-site visits).
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and work orders.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and keep the shop and yard clean.

This will be a primarily in-shop role).Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.Adhere to all company Health and Safety Policies.Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and following all company policies and procedures, and safety requirements.Provide a high standard of customer service in all interactions with customers.What You’ll Bring to the TeamQualifications and Requirements:Minimum 3 years of related mechanical experience. Prior experience working on pumps and/or generators is a definite asset.Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T or other relevant trade certificate) or equivalent work experience.Valid Class G/5 driver’s license required , with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You’ll be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.Strong electrical knowledge in 12volt dc and ac power systems and components, and thorough knowledge of diesel engines is required .Understanding of Tier 4 emissions and diesel pumps is an asset.Must have a complete set of tools.Available and willing to work over-time as required .Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team .Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong focus on following procedures and promoting a safe work environment .Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technologyPhysical stamina and ability to stand for long periods .
