Job summary

Comox Valley Regional District is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for Biosolids/Landfill on a full-time six-month term at the CVWMC and Biosolids Compost Facility in Cumberland. The role requires operating, maintaining, repairing, and supporting waste management site equipment and infrastructure, with strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates will have BC landfill operator certification, a valid Class 3 BC driver’s license with air brakes, and first aid training,

Qualifications

• Fully qualified in the safe and efficient operation of required machinery and equipment.
• BC Qualified Landfill Operator certification.
• Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 3 with air brake endorsement).
• Occupational First Aid (Level 1).

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently at CVWMC and Biosolids facilities.
• Place, compact, move, cover and manage waste materials per plans and regulations.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment and machinery.
