Job summary

BEST in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Supervisory Custodian to oversee daily custodial duties, train new hires, and ensure a clean, inviting building. You will manage washrooms and common areas, uphold safety standards, and coordinate with the Site Manager on staffing and supplies.

The role requires strong communication, knowledge of OHSA/WHMIS, and the ability to maintain quality control while fostering BEST’s values. Tue-Fri nights, 10:30pm–6:30am, in a full-time capacity.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience is required.
• Ability to pass Canadian Background Check.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily duties of custodians (light and heavy cleaning).
• Train new hires and promote BEST’s values and culture.
• Maintain open communication with Assistant Site Manager regarding staffing and safety.
• Facilitate staff meetings to implement policies and safety requirements.
• Maintain and secure storage areas and cleaning equipment; ensure staff safety.

SHIFT DAYS/HOURS

Tuesday to Friday 10:30pm - 6:30am

SALARY RANGE

$19 per hour

JOB OVERVIEW

You will be responsible for ensuring your building looks clean, presentable, and inviting at all times. You will be responsible for supervising the day to day maintenance of common areas and washrooms, ensure quality control and training new hires.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee daily duties of both light and heavy-duty custodians


• Train new hires and foster BEST’s company culture, mission, and values


• Maintain open communication with Assistant Site Manager/Site Manager regarding staffing issues, safety, supplies, and other related business concerns


• Facilitate staff meetings as required to implement policies, procedures, and safety requirements


• Maintain and secure storage areas and cleaning equipment/supplies ensuring the safety of staff and the public


• Perform minor equipment repairs and report vandalism


• Report equipment repairs and stock shortages


• Other duties as required per business needs

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong verbal and written communication skills


• Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act


• Knowledge of WHMIS and standard cleaning products, chemicals, and procedures, is an asset


• Basic computer and smartphone knowledge with experience using MS Office programs


• Ability to effectively analyze, plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous supervisory experience considered an asset;


• Ability to pass Canadian Background Check
