Job summary

Summit Search Group in Halifax is seeking a Site Superintendent to oversee all trades and manage daily on-site activities on commercial projects.

You will coordinate with the project manager, design professionals, consultants and the client to direct subcontractors and field staff in line with the contract documents, schedule and budget.

Qualifications

On behalf of our client in the construction industry, we are looking for a Site Superintendent in Halifax. The Site Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all trades and effectively managing daily on site activities. They must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants and client while successfully directing the sub-contractors and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule and budget. This individual will work closely with the Project Manager and fulfill an integral role on the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading and managing the on-site construction team.
• Coordinating and overseeing all work on site.
• Ensuring quality standards are met.
• Placing orders for materials, and being responsible for equipment and materials on site.
• Following the project timeline to ensure deadlines are met.
• Monitoring and ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness and orderliness.

The Ideal Candidate Brings:

• A degree or diploma in a relevant field.
• 3 or more years of experience with commercial construction projects.
• Red Seal, Gold Seal and/or LEED certifications would be considered assets.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management, problem solving, and leadership skills.
