Job summary

Ledcor in Alberta seeks an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to implement a broad range of programs and uphold Ledcor’s safety standards on challenging projects.

This site-based role requires strong judgment, effective communication with hourly workers and management, and a proactive approach to risk assessment and incident investigations.

Flexibility to travel to various project sites and a valid provincial driver’s license are required as part of the role.

Qualifications

• CRSP/CSO/NCSO designation required.
• 5+ years of related work experience in heavy civil, mining, or related industry.
• Solid technical knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and equipment in heavy civil/mining.
• Able to communicate effectively with hourly workforce and project management, clients and customers.
• Proactive safety approach including identifying issues and implementing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections and discuss issues with field supervisors and ensure safety equipment supply.
• Advise operations on Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System across the project lifecycle.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Assist in coordination of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, and incident investigations.
• Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators and address corrective actions with subs.
• Deliver HS&E orientation to employees and subcontractors during onboarding.
• Support site leadership in safety meeting materials and toolbox talks.
• Assist in coordinating and delivering toolbox talks and safety meetings.
• Develop and enhance Job Hazard Analyses and Safe Work Practices.
• Monitor overall effectiveness of HS&E plan implementation.
• Audit field level hazard assessments and incident reports for accuracy.
