Job summary

Ledcor is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support HS&E programs on pipeline projects in Alberta. The role requires a minimum of 5 years of pipeline HS&E experience, with CRSP/NCSO or equivalent certification and strong communication skills.

This site-based position involves rotation schedules and travel to project sites with a valid driver’s license. You will lead toolbox talks, conduct safety meetings, ensure regulatory compliance, and participate in incident investigations

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience within the pipeline industry.
  • Must hold a CRSP, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or NCSO designation.
  • Has developed technical knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment within the Pipeline Construction and/or Pipeline Maintenance Industries – mountainous project experience is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce and interact with management, clients, and customers.
  • Proactive safety approach, identifying issues and developing strategies to solve them.
  • Experience in risk assessment, program development, safety training, and accident investigation.
  • Ability to adapt information to the audience and influence toward consensus in straightforward situations.
  • Strong teamwork with adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license and driver’s abstract.
  • Pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity when handling sensitive information and workplace matters.
  • Advise operations regarding Ledcor's Health and Safety Management System, based on program execution throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support site leadership in preparing site-specific safety material for meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Coordinate and deliver project toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Monitor compliance with jurisdictional regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in coordination and completion of safe work procedures, hazard assessments, safety inspections, and focus audits.
  • Conduct inspections and discuss potential problems with field supervisors; ensure safety equipment is supplied.
  • Verify compliance with leading and lagging indicators, including subcontractors and corrective actions.
  • Conduct HS&E Orientation for employees and subcontractors during onboarding.
  • Develop and update JHAs according to project needs while complying with HSE programs.
  • Audit field-level hazard assessments quality.
  • Assist with occupational hygiene practices and awareness of medical screening programs.
  • Support development, implementation, and validation of emergency response plans and exercises.
  • Lead incident investigations and determine root causes with corrective actions.
  • Participate in incident management processes and follow-up.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of project HS&E plans.
