Job summary

Alstom in Canada is seeking a Senior Signalling Test and Commissioning Tester to lead testing activities for Metrolinx projects. You will plan and execute T&C work in a brownfield environment, including night and weekend shifts, in the field and at the Control Centre, reporting to the T&C Test Lead.

The role requires 5–7 years hands-on testing/commissioning of signalling systems, knowledge of LTE-based control systems, and ability to read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years hands-on testing/commissioning experience with signalling systems or complex systems as a functional tester in a similar role.
• Direct experience with the Metrolinx system and operating environment is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of rail signalling and LTE-based control systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and executes testing activities for railway signaling technologies under supervision and in conformance with Alstom policies and standards.
• Develops and reviews T&C procedures for the signaling sub-system against contractual requirements.
• Executes testing activities according to procedures and instructions from Sub-System Leaders.
• Adheres to testing schedules and plans for internal and external customers.
• Captures test results clearly and prepares technical test reports for customer submission.
• Interacts with Engineering and V&V teams to optimize site tests and investigate issues.

Signalling Test and Commissioning Tester (Senior)

As an experienced Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Tester, you will be responsible for the preparation, planning, and execution of Testing & Commissioning activities in support of Metrolinx projects. Working within a brownfield environment, you will participate in a wide range of commissioning activities, with a portion of the work performed during non-revenue service hours, including nights and weekends, both in the field and at the Control Centre.

Reporting to the T&C Test Lead and the Project Tester-in-Charge, you will also work closely with the Verification & Validation (V&V) and Installation teams to support other critical validation and commissioning activities. The role includes contributing to the development and maintenance of validation documentation, ensuring project requirements are met, while accurately recording and reporting all test results and associated Pre-Printed Data Sheets (PPDS), observations, as well as any non-conformances identified during testing and validation.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepares and executes testing activities for technologies of railway signaling under the direction of his/her hierarchy and in conformance with Alstom Transport policies and standards.
• Develops and Reviews T&C procedures for the signaling sub-system and against contractual requirements
• Execution of specific Testing activities according to the testing procedure / documentation and Sub-System Team Leader a/o PrCOM instruction.
• Adheres to Testing schedules and Testing plans for internal and external customers
• Performs activities with quality while meeting customer expectations and project schedule
• Capture all test results clearly and accurately and prepare technical test reports for customer submission.
• interact with Engineering and V&V Sub-System leaders for optimizing site test and investigation of testing issues.
• Uses the correct tools and equipment to perform the electrical and mechanical test activities. Ensures the equipment and tools in their care are calibrated and easily tracked.
• Uses and adheres to the use of PPE as defined by the EHS plan and customer requirements;
• Alerts the hierarchical superiors by any risk identified during the testing activities, and alerts management (Sub-System Leader, PrCOM, PM, RC TCM, …) if any EHS risk is identified.
• Read, understand and create or update Test Plans, Test Procedures, Site Specific Work Plan (SSWPs), non-conformance reports and handover certificates.

Experience

• At least 5-7years hands-on testing and/or commissioning experience with signaling systems or complexsystems as functional tester in similar role.
• Direct experience with the Metrolinx system and operating environment considered an strong asset
• Knowledge of rail conventional signaling (fixed block) and other signaling testing elements considered an asset.
• Experience with the LTE-based controlsystems and operating environment considered an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams and Word) and experienced in writing/checking technical reports
• Proficient in WireShark and VBA
• Experienced in interpreting engineering drawings (i.e. Book of Plans, Schematics, Relay Logic)
• Knowledge of Alstom Automatic Train Control olutions and/or Canadian Railway Operating Rules considered an asset

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology (electrical/computer/ computer science / Computational Science)
• Valid driver’s license with clean record considered an asset.
• Must be already legally authorized to work in Canada.
