Job summary

AIM Recycling, a division of American Iron & Metal (AIM), is seeking a dedicated Shunter Operator in Laval. The role focuses on moving dry boxes and containers in the yard, operating shunter and tilt trucks, and ensuring safe, efficient material handling in an industrial setting.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver\'s license.
• Experience driving heavy vehicles (asset).
• Experience in a similar position (asset).
• Comfortable maneuvering and driving in a yard.
• Safety-conscious and follows health and safety rules.
• Responsible, independent and organized.
• Team-oriented with good communication.
• Bilingual in French and English (asset).

Responsibilities

• Move and position dry boxes (closed containers) around the yard.
• Operate shunter trucks and the tilt truck (frog).
• Move non-ferrous material bins to designated areas.
• Position trailers and containers with proper maneuvers.
• Perform basic equipment checks before use and report issues.
• Operate equipment safely following health and safety procedures.
• Assist with other yard operations as needed.

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Shunter Operator to join our team in Laval.

As a Shunter Operator, you will be responsible for moving dry boxes and containers around the yard, as well as moving different material bins using specialized equipment. You will operate various types of equipment, including shunter trucks and a tilt truck. You will primarily work in the yard, in an industrial environment where safety, awareness, and precision are essential.

What you will be responsible for :

• Move and position dry boxes (closed containers) around the yard;
• Operate different shunter trucks and the tilt truck (“frog”);
• Move non-ferrous material bins to the appropriate areas;
• Perform the necessary maneuvers to position trailers and containers;
• Perform basic equipment checks before use;
• Report any equipment issues or concerns to your supervisor;
• Operate equipment safely and follow health and safety procedures;
• Perform other duties related to yard operations as needed.

Qualifications

• You have experience driving heavy vehicles (asset);
• You have experience in a similar position (asset);
