Job summary

AIM Recycling, a division of American Iron & Metal (AIM), is seeking a Shunter Operator in Laval to move dry boxes and containers around the yard using shunter trucks and a tilt truck.

This permanent full-time role offers a stable daytime schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., safety-first operations, training, and opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Experience driving heavy vehicles is an asset.
• Experience in a similar position is an asset.
• Ability to maneuver and drive safely in a yard.
• Bilingual in French and English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Move and position dry boxes around the yard.
• Operate different shunter trucks and the tilt truck.
• Move non-ferrous material bins to designated areas.
• Position trailers and containers with precision.
• Perform basic equipment checks before use and report issues.
• Follow health and safety procedures in all yard operations.
• Support other yard operations as needed.

Job Description

We are currently looking for a Shunter Operator to join our team in Laval.

As a Shunter Operator, you will be responsible for moving dry boxes and containers around the yard, as well as moving different material bins using specialized equipment. You will operate various types of equipment, including shunter trucks and a tilt truck. You will primarily work in the yard, in an industrial environment where safety, awareness, and precision are essential.

What you will be responsible for :

• Move and position dry boxes (closed containers) around the yard;
• Operate different shunter trucks and the tilt truck (“frog”);
• Move non-ferrous material bins to the appropriate areas;
• Perform the necessary maneuvers to position trailers and containers;
• Perform basic equipment checks before use;
• Report any equipment issues or concerns to your supervisor;
• Operate equipment safely and follow health and safety procedures;
• Perform other duties related to yard operations as needed.

Qualifications

• You have a valid Class 5 driver's license;
• You have experience driving heavy vehicles (asset);
• You have experience in a similar position (asset);
• You are comfortable maneuvering and driving in a yard;
• You are safety-conscious and follow health and safety rules;

• You are bilingual in French and English (asset).
