Job summary

American Iron and Metal (AIM) in Laval is seeking a Shunter Operator to join our yard team. You will move and position dry boxes, operate shunter trucks and the tilt truck, and help position trailers and containers.

We value safety, teamwork, and reliability; a Class 5 license is required, heavy-vehicle experience is an asset, and bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver's license or equivalent is required.
• Experience driving heavy vehicles is an asset.
• Experience in a yard or similar setting is an asset.
• Bilingual in French and English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Move and position dry boxes (closed containers) around the yard.
• Operate shunter trucks and the tilt truck (frog).
• Move non-ferrous material bins to the appropriate areas.
• Perform maneuvers to position trailers and containers.
• Perform basic equipment checks before use.
• Report equipment issues or concerns to supervisor.
• Operate equipment safely and follow health and safety procedures.
• Perform other yard operations duties as needed.

What you will be responsible for :

• Operate different shunter trucks and the tilt truck ("frog");
• Move non-ferrous material bins to the appropriate areas;
• Perform the necessary maneuvers to position trailers and containers;
• Perform basic equipment checks before use;
• Report any equipment issues or concerns to your supervisor;
• Operate equipment safely and follow health and safety procedures;
• Perform other duties related to yard operations as needed.

Qualifications

• You have a valid Class 5 driver's license;
• You have experience driving heavy vehicles (asset);
• You have experience in a similar position (asset);
• You are comfortable maneuvering and driving in a yard;
• You are safety-conscious and follow health and safety rules;
• You are responsible, independent, and organized;
• You enjoy working as part of a team;
• You are bilingual in French and English (asset).

CA$35.00–CA$50.00 hourly
