Job summary

Taggart Construction Limited is seeking a Shop Mechanic to service heavy equipment on Taggart Construction projects in Ottawa, Ontario. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of machinery, with emphasis on safety and timely documentation.

You will coordinate with the Equipment Manager in Ottawa for updates and delivery dates, perform preventative maintenance, and work both independently and as part of a team in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years' experience in hydraulic and hystat repair and maintenance.
• Experience with bulldozers, cranes, graders, tractors, off-road haulers, and earth movers.
• Journeyman certification preferred or Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic (421A)).
• In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment.
• Mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
• Attention to detail.
• Physical strength and stamina (lifting up to 40 lbs).
• Openness to learning new technologies and techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 410T license is a bonus

Work Description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic ensures timely mechanical repairs on equipment for Taggart Construction projects. Repairs are recorded according to shop practices and comply with Health and Safety policy
