Qualifications

  • Physical strength to life heavy machinery and work in cramped positions.
  • Open to learn new technologies and techniques.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate front-end loaders and dozers on various construction sites.
  • Perform circle checks and maintain equipment according to policies.
  • Carry out fine grade work as required.
  • Operate gasoline and diesel-powered units.
  • Adhere to safety policies and regulations.
  • Diagnose and identify defects in heavy equipment.
  • Complete work orders and timecards accurately.
  • Report unsafe conditions to the supervisor promptly.
  • Interact courteously with residents and the public as needed.
  • Travel to sites within Ottawa area to operate machinery.
  • Perform other duties as required.

About this Role

We are actively searching for a Loader/Dozer Operator to operate loaders and dozers on various construction sites with an anticipated start date of September 21, 2026. This position requires that you can perform fine grade dozer work as a priority and that you are competent operating a loader as required.

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for operating front-end loaders and dozers
  • Perform circle checks of equipment and clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedure of the company
  • Perform fine grade work
  • Operate gasoline and diesel-powered units
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
  • Diagnose / identify defects in heavy duty equipment
  • Accurate completion of work orders and timecard
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • The Loader/Dozer Operator may also deal with residents and members of the public in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Travel to various construction sites within and around Ottawa to operate machinery
  • Other duties as required
What You Bring
  • Minimum of five years experience operating heavy machinery
  • Completion of heavy equipment operator’s training course(s)
  • Ability to perform fine grade work
  • Detailed focus and attention to detail
  • Physical strength and stamina to life heavy machinery and work in cramped or awkward position
  • Openness to learn new technologies and techniques
  • In-depth knowledge of construction/heavy equipment
  • Must have the ability to work well independently and part of a team
  • Ability to follow instructions and to be flexible with the changing needs of the project/job
  • A valid driver’s license is required
Work Environment/Physical/Sensory Effort
  • Difficult weather conditions, as the position requires working outdoors year-round
  • Travel is required to various sites within and around Ottawa
  • Manual dexterity required
  • Overtime as required
  • Providing service to several people or departments, working under many simultaneous deadlines
  • Sitting or standing for long periods of time at a work station
  • Work environment can be busy and loud

Compensation: $41.98/hr
