Job summary

Taggart Construction Limited in Ottawa is seeking a Shop Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy equipment on project sites and in the shop.

You will diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, perform preventative maintenance, and coordinate with the Equipment Manager and forepersons to schedule timely service.

Required are at least three years of heavy equipment repair experience; journeyman preferred; valid driver's license; 410T is a bonus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years' experience in hydraulic and hystat repair and maintenance.
  • Experience with bulldozers, cranes, graders, tractors, off-road haulers, and earth movers.
  • Journeyman certification preferred or Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic (421A)).
  • In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Physical strength and stamina (lifting up to 40 lbs).
  • Openness to learning new technologies and techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 410T license is a bonus

Work Description

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic ensures timely mechanical repairs on equipment for Taggart Construction projects. Repairs are recorded according to shop practices and comply with Health and Safety policy

Major Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy duty equipment.
