Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Operator

Job Purpose
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for all the daily activities within the shipping office. The Shipper/Receiver will be the main point of contact between Select Finishings shipping office and the customers shipping office.
Duties
- Inspect and record goods received to ensure they meet specification.
- Prepare shipping documents for finished goods that meet Select Finishing standards.
- Respond to customer inquiries and requests via email and phone within 24 hours – front line communication, greet clients and suppliers.
- Communicate regularly with staff in the offline and unload areas as to the customers’ requirement.
- Communicate with internal departments on incoming/outgoing parts.
- Report receiving discrepancies to the customer.
- Working on dock checking off loads/unloads with forklift drivers.
- Take weekly inventory and communicate with Purchasing what needs to be ordered.
- Follows all Select Finishing health and safety policies and procedures and manufacturer instructions, including using appropriate PPE for tasks assigned.
- Report all health and safety concerns or incidents to the Production Manager.
- Maintain good housekeeping and cleanliness and order of workstation.

Additional Duties
- Oversee the movement of goods at the cross-dock area, ensuring proper loading and unloading procedures.
- Operate the company truck safely to move materials between facilities and designated locations.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections to confirm the truck is in good working condition.
- Refuel and maintain the truck according to company guidelines.
- Conduct daily forklift inspections and promptly address any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Operate the forklift to load, unload, and transport materials, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Complete and maintain accurate records for material transfers, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Manage special pick-up requests, such as obtaining water, salt, or other supplies.
- Work closely with the assigned supervisor to ensure alignment of cross-docking activities with production schedules.
- Provide regular updates on logistics operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or general labour role (internal promotion or equivalent external experience).
- Advanced knowledge of finishing processes, including paint applications, inspections, and quality standards.
- Ability to perform advanced quality checks and ensure compliance with production specifications.
- Strong documentation skills for tracking workflow, quality, and production metrics.
- Training less experienced team members.
- Possess valid driver’s license
