Description
Summary : The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for overseeing inbound and outbound packages for transportation.
Position Focus & Opportunity :
- Supports the Logistics Manager in running the shipping and receiving department as needed.
- Conducts daily rounds of the warehouse and speaks to operators about any issues or safety concerns.
- Works with IFP and Mill Operations to update the Mill Production / Trim schedule, monitor, and assist with grade structure, trim needs, customer needs, and leftover trims.
- Reviews inventories along with upcoming production to create the shipping schedule.
- Works with customers on their “Urgent” needs and appointments.
- Helps ensure that low-cost transportation modes are being utilized when possible.
- Ensures that loads are shipped as efficiently as possible (T-Loads, Double stacks, etc.).
- Ensures that loads are shipped securely and damage-free.
- Assists with setup of new transportation load patterns & routing.
- Assists with oversight of on-site trucking operations.
- Assists with management of Shipping and OCC Slab, including related issues.
- Obtains copies of B/Ls, ETAs, delivery information for IFP as needed.
- Assists Production Department to meet quality standards for all outgoing products.
- Assists with management of off-quality and hold rolls; coordinates loads for rewind and processes upon return to mill.
- Oversees shipping and receiving mobile equipment training.
- Creates work-orders for equipment requiring replacement or maintenance.
- Completes weekly safety observations (frequency to be determined).
- Assists with physical inventory of Rolls & OCC monthly.
- Prepares KPI reports as directed.
- Must be available on call as needed (mill operates 24/7/365).
- Attends annual Hazardous Waste / DOT training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What we're looking for :
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a shipping coordinator.
- Strong time-management, organization, and prioritization skills with the ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to learn various company software packages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact well at all organizational levels.
