Position Summary

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the warehouse to ensure accurate and timely receiving processes as well as inventory and stock control with maximum efficiency. The Team lead must also strive to meet all set KPI’s for the Operations of the warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, loading, and dispatch of finished bottled water products to meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Ensure all shipments comply with quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain proper documentation, including bills of lading, shipping labels, and packing lists.
  • Coordinate with carriers to arrange transportation, resolve delivery issues, and optimize freight costs.
  • Supervise the receipt and unloading of materials, including raw materials, packaging supplies, and equipment.
  • Verify accuracy of incoming shipments against purchase orders and address discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure materials are safely and efficiently stored and made available for production use.
  • Work with the inventory team to maintain accurate records of stock levels, including raw materials and finished goods.
  • Supervise the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Support cycle counts and periodic physical inventory audits to minimize discrepancies.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of shipping and receiving associates, fostering a culture of safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain schedules to ensure adequate staffing during peak operations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve team performance.
  • Analyze shipping and receiving processes to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and logistics teams to streamline workflows and reduce downtime.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping and receiving operations.
  • Ensure all shipping and receiving activities comply with workplace safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Train staff on proper material handling techniques, equipment operation, and emergency procedures.

Education/Skills/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, shipping regulations, and transportation requirements.
  • Experience with inventory management systems and warehouse software; familiarity with ERP systems is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities, with a focus on team development and collaboration.
  • Forklift certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • WHMIS and First Aid certifications are an asset.

Working Environment And Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, able to crouch, bend and kneel, as well as capable of heavy lifting and carrying.
  • Manufacturing plant environment with frequent exposure to moving equipment, noise, and temperature variations.
  • Requires standing, walking, and lifting materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and extended hours during peak periods.
