Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a Shift Building Operator in the Facilities department to support the Plant Operations and Maintenance team at the Princess Margaret Campus. You will inspect the facility and mechanical room, ensuring safe, reliable operation and adherence to UHN standards.

The role requires 2+ years of related experience, appropriate certifications, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate/Diploma in Building Operations or 3rd/4th Class Stationary Engineer certificate (TSSA) or a licensed trade certification (HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, Electrician).
• If licensed trade, possession of the provincial COQ.
• Minimum of 2 years related experience.
• Computer literate to operate automated systems.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exercises initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task.
• Professional and courteous manner meeting UHN standards.
• Knowledge of applicable policies (UHN/departmental).
• Healthcare setting experience is an asset.

• Reports to: Supervisor, Facilities Management
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Wage Range: $35.07 - $37.55 per hour. Start rate non negotiable.
• Shift: Rotating 24 hour shifts
• Status: Permanent Full-time

Position Summary

The Shift Building Operator is an integral part of the Plant Operations and Maintenance department andmaintainsresponsibility for inspecting the facility/mechanical room.

Duties

• Performing preventative maintenance to ensure the continuous operation of equipment/machinery
• Diagnosing problems with equipment/machinery
• Providingfeedback to ensure new construction and/or modification will notimpactexisting systems
• Repairing equipment/machinery
• Contributing to the efficient operation of the department

Qualifications

• At minimum, completion of high school or recognized equivalent
• A Certificate or Diploma in Building Operations, or a 3rd or 4th Class Stationary Engineer Certificate (TSSA), or a recognized licensed trade certification (HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, Electrician).
• If licensed trade, possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications (COQ)
• Minimum of 2 years practical and related experience
• Computer literate to operate automated systems
• Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
• Exercises initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task
• Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
• Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
• Previous related experience in a health care setting, an asset
