University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for a Sessional Lecturer I–III in the Department of Physical & Environmental Science. The course EESB05DH3 Principles of Soil Science will be taught in person on Fridays from 10:00 to 12:00 at UTSC.

The appointment runs January 1, 2027 to April 30, 2027 with pay rates under the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement; PhD in Environmental Science, Forestry, or Geography is required, and teaching experience is valued.

Description:

Course Number and Title: EESB05DH3 - Principles of Soil Science

A study of the processes of pedogenesis and the development of diverse soil profiles, their field relationships and their response to changing environmental conditions.An examination of the fundamental soil properties of importance in soil management. An introduction to the techniques of soil examination in the field, soil analysis in the laboratory and the basic principles of soil classification.

Number of Hours:0.5 FCE

Estimated TA support:TA support consistent with enrollment will be provided.

Class schedule: Lectures in-person: Fridays 10 am - 12 pm at UTSC campus Please note we can't adjust the lecture schedule, so please only apply if you are available during the times above.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2027 – April 30, 2027

Salary: Starting September 1, 2026 the following rates of pay apply for half courses (F or S), inclusive of vacation pay: $9,997.48 for a Sessional Lecturer I; $10,699.22 for a Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term; $10,699.22 for a Sessional Lecturer II; $10,953.96 for a Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term; $10,953.96 Sessional Lecturer III; and $11,228.90 for a Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. The rate of pay is established by the Collective Agreement between Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3902 Unit 3 and the University of Toronto.

PhD in Environmental Science, Forestry, or Geography. Previous experience is the more relevant criterion than the need to acquire experience in respect of this posted position.
