The Department requires sessional faculty for the Winter 2027 semester and beyond to teach the following two courses:

GEOG 318: Water Resources Management

Required

This course examines the issues surrounding water as a global resource and the scientific principles involved in water resources management. Emphasis is placed on the understanding of the role that water as a resource has within our societies, including our perception of water as a resource, contamination of water, treatment of water, and possible impacts on water supply resulting from climate change. Field trips outside of class time may be required. Please refer to department website for field trip scheduling information. Detailed course outline for the aforementioned course is available at: https://www.ufv.ca/calendar/CourseOutlines/PDFs/GEOG/

PLAN 410: Indigenizing Planning: Indigenous Land Use and Community Planning

Examine ways colonization and colonialism in urban and community planning influenced Indigenous peoples’ connection to the environment, socioeconomics, culture, and cultural practices. Through the lens of reconciliation, cultural humility, and cultural awareness, students consider the strength and resilience of the Indigenous nations in continuing to address environmental, socio- economic, and political issues through the context of land use, environmental stewardship, and cultural identify. Detailed course outline for the aforementioned course is available at: https://www.ufv.ca/calendar/CourseOutlines/PDFs/PLAN/
