Description

The Department of Computer Science within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a CPSC 481 Sessional Instructor for the Winter 2027 Term.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for lecture instruction, and any other associated course management duties for this 3-unit course, including the supervision and direction of teaching assistants that will deliver the tutorial sections.

Course Description:
Computer Science 481 - Human-Computer Interaction I

CPSC 481 covers the fundamental theory and practice of the design, implementation, and evaluation of human-computer interfaces. Topics include: principles of design; methods for evaluating interfaces with or without user involvement; techniques for prototyping and implementing graphical user interfaces.

Winter 2027 Term Dates: January 4 - April 30, 2027

Delivery Mode(s): All course components will be delivered in person.

Lecture Schedule: TuTh 12:30 - 1:45 p.m.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a minimum of an MSc in Computer Science or a closely related discipline; a PhD is preferred. Experience with the Desire 2 Learn (D2L) course management system, knowledge of best practices for assessments, and techniques for engaging students will be considered assets. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level will also be considered an important asset. Graduate students and postdocs in our program looking to obtain teaching experience will be first considered, followed by applicants with a postgraduate degree.
