University of Calgary invites applications for a Winter 2027 term Sessional Instructor for UNIV 304, Experiential Learning in the Workplace. Responsibilities include lecture instruction and any other duties for this 3-unit course.
Course dates: Winter 2027, Mondays Jan 4 to Apr 30; Teaching Schedule: Wednesdays, 3:00-5:45 PM. This position aligns with Indigenous knowledge and the ii' taa'poh'to'p strategy and follows the Faculty Association collective agreement for remuneration.
The Faculty of Arts in partnership with the Office of Signature Learning Experiences, and in alignment with the University of Calgary commitment to ii' taa'poh'to'p, invites applications for a Winter 2027 Term Sessional Instructor. The successful candidate will have responsibilities for lecture instruction and any other associated duties for this 3-unit course during the Winter 2027 term.
University of Calgary located in the heart of Southern Alberta acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, which include the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut'ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Metis Nation within Alberta (including Nose Hill Metis District 5 and Elbow Metis District 6).
UNIV 304 is an introduction to the foundational and transferable skills that support success in workplace, volunteer and professional settings. Through a current paid work, volunteer or career exploration experience, students will identify skills that support their success in the experience, reflect on strengths and areas for future growth, and learn how to articulate academic and foundational skills to employers. Foundational skills include; communication, creativity and innovation, problem solving, adaptability and collaboration.
This section of the course, exclusively for Indigenous students, will also be known as 'Setting out: a Journey of Transformation and Renewal'. The course is designed to support Indigenous students on a journey of personal growth, transformation, and renewal. Grounded in the knowledge of the Peoples of Treaty 7, and guided by the University of Calgary's Indigenous strategy ii' taa'poh'to'p, the course parallels Indigenous ways of knowing, doing, being, and connecting with Western approaches to career development and foundational skill-building. Foundational skills include communication, creativity, problem solving, adaptability and collaboration.
