Description

The Department of Biological Sciences within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a BCEM 341 Sessional Instructor in the Winter 2027 Term.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for Course and Lab Coordination of this 3-unit course, which will be offered in person.

Course Description:
Biochemistry 341 - Biochemistry of Life Processes

BCEM 341 places emphasis on describing the chemistry of biochemical molecules including proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids, and how this relates to cell structure and life processes. Basic concepts of metabolism are introduced, focusing on the breakdown of carbohydrates for energy. The laboratory component reinforces learning of the lecture material, while teaching technical skills and the analysis and interpretation of experiments involving biochemical molecules.

January 4 - April 30, 2027

Qualifications:

Candidates require a minimum of a MSc in one of the biological sciences, with a PhD preferred, and evidence of teaching effectiveness. The successful candidate must be familiar with the topic of metabolism. Previous teaching experience in the field of biochemistry will be considered an important asset.
